Established in 2005, Smelly Dog is the original self-serve dog wash in the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Known for its cage-free environment, Smelly Dog also offers full-service washing, grooming and daycare, all for dogs, of course! Often, dogs become more anxious and nervous when put in cages, then adding a loud drier to the cage, you intensify their fear. The bathers and groomers at Smelly Dog dry all dogs by hand, which means they spend more one-on-one time with each dog. Once clean, dogs hang out in the "clean dog lounge" where they can rest or play with other dogs. It makes bathing and grooming a less stressful experience for the dogs. Being cage free also means Smelly Dog will only admit friendly, non-aggressive dogs.
In 2010, Smelly dog renovated their facility and expanded their offerings. Adjacent to the wash facility, Smelly Dog added a modern dog marketplace to satisfy all your dogs' needs. Focusing on cool, new, innovative, and quality products means the fare is unique and always fresh! They also strive to carry eco-friendly, locally made and made in the USA whenever possible. Whether you are following a natural & holistic lifestyle, or just want the best for your dog, they have what you need!
Smelly Dog also has its very own bakery that was awarded “Best Dog Treat” at the annual Beaglefest baking competition. Using human grade ingredients that are corn and soy free, they bake up fresh and flavorful treats that your dog will love! They also offer many wheat- and gluten-free options, as well. Then, they package everything up in eco-friendly bags.

Jackie Brenda, the owner of Smelly Dog, is dedicated to helping Phoenix dog owners keep their pups clean, healthy, and happy. Jackie is an avid lover of dogs. Since she can't own them all, the next best thing is to own a business where she can enjoy all shapes and sizes of dogs everyday!

A certified dog groomer, trained dog daycare professional, and nutrition aficionado, Jackie takes pride in running a respected business that helps people raise their dogs to live a long and healthy life. "I only hire people who love and care about dogs. I train my staff to give every dog TLC and also give their owners an accurate report on each dog's visit." says Jackie. "For example, did we notice any health issues like swollen gums, tear stains, hotspots, or behavioral issues like nervousness or biting, that can help the owner solve a problem? Our cage-free grooming services help to give dogs a better grooming experience!"
